NWANA Main NW Group is the central online community group for the Nordic Walking Association of North America.

This group is the starting point for people who want to get involved with NWANA, connect with other Nordic Walking participants, follow updates, join online activity challenges, support local group development, or take an active role in building Nordic Walking communities across North America.

NWANA is currently building a network of community-based NW Groups by country, state, county, and city. Some groups are already active online, while many local groups are still forming. This page helps you understand the current status of the group and choose the best next step.

Current Group Status

• Online Community Active — this group already has online community channels where people can connect, follow updates, and participate.
• Local Activities Planned — walks, training sessions, clinics, and local activities may be announced as leaders, instructors, and participants join the group.
• Instructor Needed — NWANA is looking for instructors, coaches, group leaders, volunteers, and local organizers who can help develop this group and support future activities.

Other NW Groups in the NWANA system may have different statuses:

• Forming — the group is being created and is waiting for participants, instructors, or a local leader.
• Online Community Active — the group has active online channels such as Strava, Garmin Connect, or Facebook.
• Local Activities Planned — walks, workouts, clinics, or training sessions are being prepared.
• Active Local Group — the group has regular local activities.
• Instructor Needed — the group needs an instructor, coach, or local leader.

How You Can Participate

You can join this NW Group as a walker, athlete, beginner, instructor, coach, volunteer, group leader, supporter, staff member, judge, or future event participant. NWANA training programs will help prepare instructors, staff, judges, and local leaders for the next stage of community and competition development.
