NWANA is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and abuse-free environment for all participants. Safe Sport is not just a requirement—it is our core responsibility as a public charity.
CORE EDUCATION PILLARS
Our curriculum ensures every leader and athlete knows the standards of conduct.
ABUSE PREVENTION
Recognizing and preventing emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct in a sport environment.
REPORTING & RESPONSE
Clear pathways for reporting concerns and how NWANA handles investigations with confidentiality.
ETHICAL CONDUCT
Establishing professional boundaries for coaches, judges, and adult athletes working with youth/vulnerable groups.
WHO MUST BE CERTIFIED?
Safe Sport certification is mandatory for all individuals in positions of authority.
MANDATORY CERTIFICATION
- All Coaches & Instructors: Prior to any group session.
- Judges & Officials: Required for all sanctioned races.
- Regional Operators: Part of the delegation agreement.
- NWANA HQ Staff & Board: Mandatory annual training.
RECOMMENDED FOR
- Competitive Athletes: To understand their rights and protections.
- Parents & Guardians: To ensure a safe environment for junior athletes.
- Event Volunteers: To identify and report “Red Flags” during competitions.
LEARNING PLATFORM STATUS
Accessing the NWANA Safe Sport Education Module.
The official NWANA Safe Sport Module is being integrated into our Learning Platform for the 2026 Season Launch.
*Note: During this transition phase, all leaders must review the NWANA Code of Conduct and sign the Safe Sport Interim Disclosure.
Report a Concern
If you have experienced or witnessed misconduct, abuse, or a violation of Safe Sport standards, please report it immediately. Reports are handled with the highest level of confidentiality.
