BUILD YOUR TERRITORY —
RUN SANCTIONED SPORT LOCALLY
NWANA sanctions competitive Nordic Walking across North America through recognized operators. Operators build the local competitive market: sanctioned competitions, officiating capacity, education delivery, and athlete participation.
OPERATOR TYPES
One governance system — two operating levels.
National Operators
A National Operator is the exclusive country-level governing and sanctioning authority recognized by NWANA (one per country, where established).
- Administers sanctioning nationally and supervises sub-national structures.
- Implements NWANA standards, eligibility, officiating and compliance.
- Recognition is not automatic — incorporation or naming does not create rights.
Interim Regional Operators
Where no National Operator exists, NWANA may delegate interim regional authority to qualified operators (states/provinces/metros) to build the sport locally.
- Supports local organizers and processes sanctioning within the territory.
- Builds judges/officials and education delivery capacity under NWANA standards.
- Interim status transitions under a National Operator once one is recognized for the country.
HOW OPERATORS EARN
Revenue grows as your local market grows.
Sanctioned Events
Operators bring independent event organizers into the NWANA system. Events gain credibility, official recognition, and pathway visibility.
- Approved fee-share terms may apply to sanctioning administration.
- Local services may include course measurement support, officials coordination, and event readiness checklists (as available).
- More sanctioned events → more licensed athletes → stronger calendar → stronger sponsor interest.
Education & Certification Delivery
Operators build the local workforce: coaches, judges, and event officials — and may earn through education delivered within their territory under NWANA standards.
- Approved terms may apply to course delivery and certification administration.
- Clinics and technique sessions support athlete development and event quality.
- Officiating is the “sport layer” that makes results comparable and credible.
WHAT OPERATORS DO
Simple: create supply, enforce standards, grow demand.
Build the Calendar
Recruit and support local organizers; publish sanctioned events to the official calendar.
Protect Standards
Apply the rulebook, course standards, and judging requirements so results are comparable across regions.
Build Officials
Develop coaches and judges through NWANA education so events run professionally and fairly.
Grow Athletes
Drive athlete participation and licensing so sanctioned events have a real competitive pathway.
