COMMUNITY
& CLUB DEVELOPMENT
NWANA builds a national Nordic Walking community by supporting local clubs, city programs, and volunteer leaders in the United States and across North America.
The community system is the primary reservoir of our sport. It connects health-focused movement with competitive pathways, ensuring that every participant has a clear route from local club activities to national rankings.
COMMUNITY STRUCTURE
Scaling Nordic Walking locally through standardized leadership and club structures.
Local Clubs
The core training environment. Clubs provide regular technique sessions, group workouts, and the social foundation of the sport.
City Leaders
Designated coordinators who organize local clinics, identify potential coaches, and serve as the NWANA contact point for their territory.
Regional Hubs
Strategic locations where multiple clubs coordinate to host sanctioned events, educational workshops, and athlete training camps.
INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY
Operating as a 501(c)(3) public charity for the benefit of all generations.
Lifelong Movement
We promote Nordic Walking as a science-backed endurance sport accessible to athletes from Juniors to Masters. Community programs focus on safe, low-impact progression.
Public Access
NWANA community initiatives are designed to be inclusive, adapting pace and terrain to participant needs while maintaining high technical standards.
THE SPORT PATHWAY
- Stage 1 (Community): Beginners start in local “Try Nordic Walking” days and basic technique clinics.
- Stage 2 (Development): Participants join structured club training and master national technique standards.
- Stage 3-6 (Competitive): Motivated athletes move into sanctioned races, national rankings, and high-performance programs.
Build the Future
Whether you want to join an existing club or apply to lead a new one in your city, your involvement builds the national sport system.
