ACADEMY NW

Academy NW

Academy NW is the education and leadership development platform of NWANA.

At this stage, education is one of the most important foundations for the growth of Nordic Walking in North America. Before the sport can expand through athlete licensing, sanctioned events, and rankings, it needs trained people who can lead, teach, judge, organize, and build local activity.

Through Academy NW, NWANA prepares instructors, coaches, judges, leaders, and staff to support communities, develop athletes, and strengthen the future competitive system.

Why The Academy Matters

In North America, Nordic Walking is still in an early stage of development. The most urgent need is not only competition structure, but people who know how to build the sport correctly.

Academy NW helps create that foundation. It gives people the knowledge, standards, and practical preparation needed to lead local activity and support the long-term growth of the sport.

This is how education connects directly to the future of communities, athletes, events, and competitive development.

What Academy NW Supports

Academy NW is not separate from the sport system. It is the first engine that helps make the entire system possible.

LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Trained leaders help people find where they can begin near where they live.

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT

Better instruction and coaching create stronger athletes over time.

EVENT QUALITY

Judges, staff, and organizers improve the quality and credibility of future competitions.

LONG-TERM GROWTH

Education builds the human base needed for licensing, sanctioning, results, and rankings.

Standards And Responsibility

NWANA education is built around standards, technique, safety, fair development, and the long-term integrity of the sport.

Depending on the pathway, training may include practical instruction, evaluation, certification steps, and continuing development expectations.

Some pathways also connect to broader responsibilities in safe sport, athlete welfare, and anti-doping awareness as the system grows.

Important Note

Certification and eligibility for specific roles may require course completion, evaluation, and additional verification steps.

Availability of paid or assigned roles may vary by region, level of development, and scheduled activities.
