FROM FIRST ATTEMPT → HIGH PERFORMANCE
NWANA Athlete Pathway is built on speed, consistency, and validated progression. Athletes at 5 km/h and 10 km/h belong to the same system — you move through stages based on performance.
Stage 0 — Entry
Open to everyone. No prerequisites. Use this stage to understand your current level and learn the sport standards.
- Format: Open performance results (unvalidated).
- You may submit open results even without poles (for self-benchmarking only).
- Important: sanctioned competitions are conducted with poles only.
Stage 1 — Development
Build repeatable pace, clean technique, and consistent attempts. This is where most athletes create their base.
- Formats: 1 Mile, 3 km, 5 km
- Goal: stable pace + regular attempts + measurable improvement
- Focus: technique consistency before speed
Stage 2 — Competitive
Transition into regulated environments. Build a season rhythm and start collecting validated results.
- Formats: 5 km, 10 km
- Goal: regional competitiveness + season participation
- Key: validated results at sanctioned events
Stage 3 — Performance
National-level benchmarks. Your results must be validated, and your technique must hold under pressure.
- Formats: 10 km + long-distance rankings
- Goal: national benchmarks + technical consistency
- Expectation: validated results in sanctioned environments
Stage 4 — High Performance
The top band of the program framework: verified results, sustained performance, and long-term progression.
- Focus: national benchmarks + high-performance training blocks
- Status: High Performance Athlete (NWANA framework)
- Expectation: validated results in sanctioned environments
ELITE ATHLETES CLUB
Elite Athletes Club is for athletes who are training seriously and building verified results. It’s a structured environment for accountability, progression, and high-performance standards.
- Who: Stage 3–4 athletes (or close to it)
- Purpose: structured progression + consistent competitive participation
- Standards: technique + validated results + education requirements (as published)
PERFORMANCE RESULTS & VALIDATION
NWANA distinguishes between open performance results and validated competition results. Open results let athletes test themselves and appear in rankings without barriers. Progression through stages requires validated results obtained at sanctioned events under official conditions.
